Unfortunately our guide book didn’t mention the fact that the castle is closed from mid-November until February. Charles Perrault allegedly wrote La Belle au bois dormant with Ussé in mind.

It’s a bit geeky, but it had to be done. I grew up on the Tintin comic books, which my Dad bought for us all. And since the Château de Cheverny is the original Château de Moulinsart (Marlinspike Hall) we just couldn’t stay away.
