October Daily 22 – A Bit Too Early

October Daily 22 - A Bit Too Early

The rhyme is a childrens’ game – you say it (“This is the house of Nikolaus”) and draw a straight line with each syllable. At the end you have a house. But since this is an ad for a demolition company, it’s past tense and they take away a straight line for each syllable. Nikolaus is of course Saint Nicholas. His feast day is celebrated on December 6th, in Germany usually with “secret” gifts for children – they have to put their shoes outside the evening before and will find them filled with sweets and small presents.
