La Reine

Vauban called the complex “la Reine des citadelles” (the queen of citadelles) and he should know. 😀 Unfortunately we didn’t know it wouldn’t be possible to actually visit the citadelle, as it is the case so often, the French military uses it. Stupid French military… can’t you at least offer guided tours? But that also explains why one of the best preserved works of Vauban is not listet as a World Heritage Site.
