Unexpected Company

This morning I had some company on my walk. Everything was quiet, only the redwings were singing and then I heard a peep right next to me. This golden plover walked near me for about 10 minutes, even turned around when I did. He only left when I was back at the guest house.

What’s up?

What's up?

The chaffinches are notoriously cautious. They are regular visitors to the feeder, but it’s rare that I get a good close-up.

Begging

Begging

Well… the Great Tits have fledged. If there is one drawback to feeding birds year round, then it has got to be the young tits. Don’t get me wrong they’re fun to watch, I love knowing they have a better start in their lives (and probably a better chance to grow into adulthood), because I provide an easily available and safe food source.
But they’re a noisy and dirty little bunch. Right now my day usually starts between 4:30 and 5:00, just because they sit on my window sills and beg. It’s not uncommon for them to sit inside the bowl full of sunflower seeds and scream to be fed. And once they manage to feed themselves it’s impossible to keep the window clean.
Wouldn’t miss it for the world. 😀

Help? Please?

bluthaenflin-ahlenhof-07062017

I’m unsure about the ID. Could this be a female Common Linnet?

Bin nicht sicher, was ich hier sehe – ist das vielleicht ein Bluthänfling-Weibchen?

They’re Back!

They're Back!

Actually they’ve been back for almost a week now. The way they berate me in the carport I think they might build a new nest there, the last one was destroyed shortly after the young ones hatched. Fingers crossed they do a good enough job.
