Congratulations!

UNESCO has announced two new world heritage sites in Germany. Congratulations to Erzgebirge/Krušnohoří Mining Region (a joint site with Czechia) and the Water Management System of Augsburg. And congratulations to all other new sites as well, one of which I have visited in 2017 – the Vatnajökull in Iceland.

The Works of Danes

The Works of Danes

Last year the complex of fortifications called “Danevirke” together with the Viking village Hedeby became a UNESCO World Heritage site. We already visited Hedeby in 2008 and saw parts of the walls. So this time it was just a quick stop in Dannewerk (there’s also a museum) on our way home.
